HFA ROLES

  • HFA UK Chapter Co-Director

BUSINESS TITLE/FIRM

  • Partner, Wildgen S.A.

Mark is a partner in the Investment Funds practice group of Wildgen, a Luxembourg law firm, where he also heads the London office. He specialises in the structuring and distribution of regulated and unregulated funds and has experience across the liquidity spectrum.

His career in the hedge funds industry commenced in 2005, where he was legal counsel at Financial Risk Management; he begun on the investment side, focussing on the legal aspects of operational due diligence and fund structuring, and then moved on to sell-side structuring, becoming SVP of product development before leaving in 2010. Since then, he worked in-house at a number of fund management businesses, where he worked with internal clients, leading them through the earliest stages of the establishment of funds and management companies, through the legal and regulatory aspects of launches, and ongoing matters relating to the management, governance and global distribution of funds.

Mark is known for his commercial and pragmatic approach to issues around fund management stemming from his background in-house. His breadth of buy-side experience in the funds industry spans structures and jurisdictions and allows him to take a uniquely broad and commercial viewpoint.

Mark is a lecturer at the Henley Business School (hedge fund structuring), and frequently speaks at conferences and writes articles on European legal and regulatory issues for fund managers. Mark holds a Bachelor of Law (hons) from the University of Birmingham. He was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2004 and has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar since 2018 (List IV of the Luxembourg Bar).
